Frequently Asked CBD Oil Questions
CBD, also known as Cannabidiol, is a compound called a cannabinoid found in the Cannabis Sativa plant. CBD is one of over 100 cannabinoids in the plant, some of which science suggests may have beneficial properties. CBD and THC are by far the most prevalent cannabinoids in cannabis, but farmers can breed cannabis to have very high levels of CBD and very low THC. If the THC levels are below 0.3%, cannabis is considered to be hemp cannabis, which is federally legal in the U.S.
CBD is found in the flowers, the stalks, and to a lesser extent the seeds of the cannabis plant. After extracting the CBD from these parts of the plant, we can produce a variety of CBD products. Hemp seed oil should not be confused with CBD hemp oil since hemp seeds, while nutritious, aren't where the plant stores most of its CBD.
CBD is a potential breakthrough supplement for therapeutic aid and nutrition. It is a naturally occurring substance that is used in products like oils to impart the feeling of relaxation and calm. And best of all, CBD is not psychoactive like it's cousin THC. It will not give you a "high" or "stoned" feeling. Yes, you can experience mental clarity and balance as well as physical wellbeing without what many would consider negative side effects and sometime connotation of marijuana cannabis. CBD oil is something else entirely.
No. It's not addictive. And it will not get you high because it has antipsychotic properties as opposed to the psychotropic effects of its cannabinoid cousin THC. In a cannabis plant, CBD is actually a counter-balance to THC. The more CBD in cannabis and the less THC, the more balancing the plant is.
Directly, CBD oil will not influence your thoughts, mind, or behavior in a negative way because it is a non-psychotropic compound. Instead, the positive effects of CBD are more subtle. CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system, a network of cells that supports homeostasis, or balance in how your body and mind respond to physical stimuli and stress. CBD won't knock you out or make you feel hyper-alert. It helps you find that middle place, where you feel well. Check out our Broad-Spectrum CBD oil. It's 100% THC-free while retaining the healthy nutrients and substances found naturally in hemp cannabis.
Pure CBD oil potentially has a plethora of natural body and mind health benefits and may support wellness in many ways. It can improve sleep (fights insomnia), reduce anxiety symptoms, manage depression symptoms, weight management, muscle soreness and joint stiffness, manage chronic pain, control spasms symptomatic of multiple sclerosis, work as an epilepsy treatment, calm troubled skin to reduce acne.
A growing body of research suggests that people who use CBD may achieve these benefits because CBD interacts with your endocannabinoid system (ECS), a network of cell receptors, hormone-like substances, and enzymes that promote homeostasis in the body.
Are you experiencing chronic pain, general anxiety, or body composition challenges, for example? All are signs that your body and mind are struggling to maintain balance. The endocannabinoid system regulates various functions to maintain this balance. And CBD may support ECS healthy function. Experience the balancing effects of Mtiva CBD products for yourself to see what we mean. If you've been diagnosed with an ailment, please speak with your medical provider before beginning a CBD routine or trying to self-adjust prescription dosing. And never stop taking a prescribed medication suddenly--especially those for mental health and insomnia--as doing so may cause serious adverse effects whether you take CBD products or not.
The most common way to take a CBD oil or tincture is by mouth (orally). Taking CBD orally is fast and easy. However, you may find you need more milligrams of CBD because when CBD goes through the digestive system, known as the first pass, some of the CBD exits through the kidneys before it reaches the bloodstream. But taking CBD orally does have an upside as the CBD takes longer to enter the bloodstream, but may also deliver more sustained effects.
Many people also hold a few drops under the tongue for a minute or two in a practice known as "taking CBD sublingually". Taking CBD oil sublingually allows more to be absorbed through membranes in the mouth, which may increase the effects faster as opposed to just swallowing the oil outright. Using a combination of sublingual and swallowing the oil can deliver the fast effects you're looking for without sacrificing the longer-lasting effect you want.
Finally, a CBD tincture can also be applied topically to target a specific area. Topical application works best for localized pain since the skin absorbs the CBD directly into the affected area but may not distribute the CBD elsewhere in the body. Many find using tincture in this way a little messy. So try Mtiva's Hemp CBD Pain Rub, which contains extra natural ingredients to reduce pain and soreness instead.
Thanks to H.R.5485, the Hemp Farming Act of 2018 [1] cannabidiol (CBD) is legal federally. However, we have a little thing in this country called "state's rights". So currently, 47 out of the 50 states allow CBD under state-specific conditions, with Nebraska, South Dakota, and Idaho being the only exceptions.
The legality of CBD can vary from state to state and country to country, but in general, the main determining factor is whether the CBD is derived from hemp or from marijuana. The Hemp Farming Act of 2018 was a bill that became law on December 20, 2018. It removed hemp (defined as cannabis with less than 0.3% THC) from the Schedule I controlled substances list and made it an ordinary agricultural commodity. In doing so, the federal government removed restrictions on the sale, transportation, and possession of hemp-derived CBD products and allowed for the transportation of hemp-derived CBD products across state lines as long as the products follow the federal regulations listed above. This also cracked the world of CBD research in the U.S. wide open.
Before this time, even though we had anecdotal evidence that CBD was a beneficial substance, studying CBD in the U.S was next to impossible because the plants from which CBD is extracted were treated like marijuana and considered were illegal. Since that restriction has been lifted, scientists have been able to freely study CBD and other potentially helpful substances in hemp plants. That's one reason this research is still considered new and ongoing.
Our CBD Oil comes from phytocannabinoid-rich hemp grown on a farm we own in Upstate New York called Mtiva Fams. We raise each plant organically from seed to maturity in nutrient-dense soil and harvest by hand with care to the highest quality CBD products.
Once harvested and dried, we extract Cannabidiol from the hemp plant using a method called Supercritical CO2 extraction — creating a pure CBD oil free of harmful pesticides and residue. And because our CBD oil comes from hemp plants, taking our products will not produce any of the psychoactive effects, commonly associated with THC.
CBD Oil drops offer maximum versatility to CBD Beginners and Connoisseurs alike. Using the 1ml dropper, you can easily customize an ideal dose and take the exact amount of cannabidiol needed orally, sublingually, or topically, as you choose. All Mtiva CBD products are independently tested for quality and potency to ensure the best possible outcomes using only naturally-occurring ingredients.
It starts with a seed. We've developed a proprietary strain of hemp that is naturally packed with all of the beneficial phytonutrients, cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids you want in your CBD products. We plant these seeds at Mtiva Farms, our Upstate New York Farm in nutrient-dense soil at the base of mountains where they grow using only organic processes before being hand-picked for processing.
When buying CBD from other sources, you could be buying a white label product. In other words, a wholesaler or retailer paid another company to produce their product that they can then slap their brand name onto. They may make all kinds of promises about their CBD. But they have no control over whether that hemp was sustainably grown, sourced from one farm or many, or if the CBD was extracted safely to reduce harmful residues.
Because Mtiva CBD owns the farm, the warehouse, and the facility where CBD products are created. So when we say sustainably-grown, organic, pure, picked by hand, THC-free, third-party tested, highest quality ingredients--we can back up those claims.
Broad spectrum CBD is a bit of a mix between Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate. Like Full Spectrum CBD, the other compounds found within the plant are preserved in the extract; however, like CBD Isolate, THC is completely removed.
Because Broad Spectrum CBD contains multiple cannabinoids, it can deliver the enhanced benefits of the partial "entourage effect," without the risk of psychoactive effects of THC. That entourage includes terpenes, flavonoids, antioxidants, other cannabinoids, and healthy oils that an increasing body of research shows may be good for your body and mind.
We achieve a THC-free broad spectrum CBD through a safe post-extraction and THC-free testing process. After Supercritical CO2 extraction, we can isolate even the smallest trace of THC and remove it before testing to ensure that all traces have been eliminated, leaving behind the purest, highest-quality broad-spectrum CBD, which we can then add to oils, tinctures, and other top-quality CBD products.
